Everything they represent goes against everything I believe in as a woman and a feminist. Goodbye you load of hate filled sods, it's nice to be free of you at last!
Dennis Harty07 June 2018It is literally a piece of malware running on a perfectly good operating system
Elaine Harty19 March 2022Non-practicing for 30 years, wish to be removed from the records.

Niall Heraty26 August 2018No longer believe. It’s that simple, if I choose to believe again then let me rejoin.
Sharon Heron10 April 2023I reject the teachings of the Catholic Church which is a for profit business that specialises in shame. Despite some kind and well meaning individuals, the church itself is a means to control, to demean women and to sow prejudice and judgement in the minds of its followers. For too long Irish people have been complicit in allowing the church power over our lives. I wholeheartedly and completely reject the power of the church and the doctrines written by men. I am ashamed to ever have engaged with the structure that is the church.
John Herrieven07 March 2017Because I was indoctrinated as a child and never had a choice, and anyway, I no longer wish to be associated with an organisation that tries to cover up infantacide, clerical child sex abuse and monopolise education in my country.

Alana Hogan13 January 2021I believe that the Catholic Church is a disgrace, and me being born into a religious institution that willingly covers up the horrors that they were blatantly apart of is disgusting and does not represent me or align with my own morals. I don’t want to be apart of what they represent.

John Hughes15 February 2019I no longer wish to have any connection with this vile organisation.
Mary Hull06 July 2019I do not believe. I married someone of another faith and not in a church. I have 2 children who have not been baptised into any faith. I believe all clergy and the Pope are guilty of abuse, if not by doing it then by covering it up.
Oisin Hunt16 August 2015Lack of belief
Shauna Hunt19 January 2021Everything that has come to light about those poor young women and their babies years ago. The suffering at the hands of the Catholic Church. The inhumanity by those nuns who I can only describe as pure evil. I have no words , words are not enough. I found myself pregnant last year at 25, I now have a beautiful healthy 9 month old son who is my whole life , my reason for living. I am also a single mother. The only thing different me and those women have is time and chance that myself and my son were not born a few years back. My son was christened in August and I would like to have him removed from the Catholic Church too.
Shayna Hunt19 August 2023I had no voice at 6 months old when I was baptised. I’ve decided as an adult that I want absolutely no connection with the deranged cult that is the Catholic Church.

Laura Hyland30 May 2018I no longer believe in Catholicism.
Mary Hyland28 May 2018There are so many reasons! I think the Catholic church is a hypocritical organisation, I think they are dishonest and I think how they dealt with paedophile priests was horrendous. The way they turned a blind eye and moved these criminals on to another parish were they could destroy more lives. Another thing that galls me is the wealth they have and so many starving people in the world, where is their compassion, just look at the Vatican City.
Catherine Insley26 March 2021I no longer identify with organised religion, particularly Catholicism. I was baptised against my will as an infant.

Alfie Johnstone29 August 2018I never go to church or I don’t care about religion and i do not believe in it
Ciara Jones14 August 2017In my opinion, to call oneself a ‘catholic’, you should believe and follow the doctrines of that religion 100%. I no longer do, in fact I don’t think I ever did, but I was baptised into the church as a baby without any education on the subject. How can I possibly be a member of a church which views a female as the lesser gender and extensively covers up paedophilia? By remaining a “catholic”, I would be insulting devout catholics and committed non-believers alike and I no longer wish to be a hypocrite.

Benn Kavanagh13 August 2022Woke up to the centuries of lies and brainwashing in my teens but only now want to (un)officially put it all behind me, finally!
Jessica Kavanagh10 August 2017There is no such thing as a god and I having refused to have my children baptised despite the insistence of my family, I wish to lead by example in having it noted that I do not consider myself a member of any religious organisation.
Liam Kavanagh27 October 2016I no longer consider myself a Catholic. I have grown to realise that the Church serves itself and not the people. Patrick Michael Lambe08 March 2018Knew from a young age that religion was hocus pocus - went with it, family not especially Catholic but culturally trapped. Newly enlightened with reading and research. So relieved to getting away from RC and religion.
Ronan Lambe09 March 2018Became an atheist at 14. Recognised the nonsense that is religion. A quaint idea that gave a sense of belonging to simpler people in simpler times. Now an obstacle to progress in the developing world.
Claire Lambert02 September 2024I do not believe in God.
Robert Lambert29 May 2018I'm an atheist and do not wish to be counted as a Roman Catholic.

Lauren Lawler17 June 2022Clericalism, sex abuse scandals, cover ups, corruption, fundamentalism, policing of women's bodies, lack of female leadership, gatekeeping of Sacraments, cancelled my PhD program and paid me less than a living wage and not allowing me to unionize as a catholic educator, misogynist theology, refusing to change, outdated beliefs and practices, failure to listen to women or youth, LGBTQIA+ phobia while the Vatican is the gayest place on earth, failure to enact VII changes, failure to accept blame and consequences of past egregious mistakes while pointing the finger at others, the list goes on...
Sean Lawler03 March 2017Ashamed to be catholic
Gerard Lawlor18 October 2023Abuse victim

Tara Lawlor10 March 2017I no longer wish to be affiliated to RCC. I wish no longer to be tarnished by the hypocrisy, cruelty, murders and lack of respect for the innocent victims of their crimes.
Fergus Lawrence28 March 2018I can no longer in good conscience be a part of an organisation that is blatantly corrupt and abusive. The Catholic Church has covered up a multitude of crimes throughout its history and continues to do so to this day. Its practices are based on nothing more than fabrications and nonsense. The church limits human potential by entrapping its followers into a false and limiting belief structure. I personally will not be part of such an organisation.
Ian Lawton11 March 2017I could write a book on the myriad reasons for doing so, but for brevity, I became atheist at age 6, although I didn't know there was a name for it at the time. I have not belonged to the organisation my parents signed me up for at my birth. They were merely partaking in cultural hegemony and tradition. I do not blame them. I am appalled at still being included as a member of an organisation that I was signed up for when too young to understand and remain vehemently opposed to my entire adult life. One day, I will find a way for you to excommunicate me.

Jim Leahy10 August 2015No reason given
Richard Leahy09 July 2018Because I was not given a choice when I was baptised into the Catholic cult and besides I have long realised that all religion is essentially a con job perpetrated by an elite who wish to exercise power and control over the masses with belief systems that usually amount to no more than 'do as we say or you will be punished in the next life'.
Timothy Leahy16 August 2015Religion is a waste of resources. We can do without men in holy orders telling us how we should behave and telling us how the world works. We can do without the flash/bang hocus pocus that takes place in alters around the country every Sunday. It's the greatest hoax in the world and the sooner everyone realizes it, the better.

Jo Lee09 April 2018The Catholic Church has far too much to answer for and failed far too many innocent people with its backwards ideologies for me to want anything to do with it. Systematic abuse and denial of women's rights to bodily autonomy are not something I can put any faith in.

Paula Loughlin18 January 2021I have not been a practicing Catholic for many years having realised that as children we were essentially brainwashed by a very powerful and sophisticated sect . With each of the scandals that has arisen and each of the responses I have become more angry and disillusioned with an organisation that claims to have moral authority and protect the vulnerable when in fact it does the complete opposite.

Tomás Lynch10 February 2017Learned to read and understand the nature of reality from an evidence based perspective. Exhillerated by what we know. Regard my years inside the Catholic Church as a kidnap victim might regret their years in dark malodorous captivity.
Conor Lynch16 August 2015The Catholic Church is antithetical to my views on a huge range of philosophical, ethical issues to the point where I wish to disavow any association with the Church
